Living Recovery Roasters

We are absolutely delighted to introduce you to our new Living Recovery Roasters  – Tom, Jamie, Dan and David from Jericho/Living Recovery Foundation.  They have been trained up now by the amazing Matthew Deyn from Cromford Coffee Company and have been roasting coffee since summer 2025.

One of the newly trained roasters – Jamie says “Roasting coffee has become a simple but important part of my recovery journey. It helps me feel a part of something, keeps me focused, connects me with like-minded individuals and reminds me of how far I’ve come. Each time I roast a batch, it feels like a small win and shows me that my life is getting better, with more purpose and more peace.”

About Us

Roasting coffee has become a simple but important part of my recovery journey. It helps me feel a part of something, keeps me focused, connects me with like-minded individuals and reminds me of how far I’ve come. Each time I roast a batch, it feels like a small win and shows me that my life is getting better, with more purpose and more peace.

Living Recovery Roasters is a non-profit social enterprise that was pioneered by people overcoming life-controlling issues. It exists to support individuals on their journey of recovery, helping them find purpose, build resilience and gain independence through the roasting of coffee.

Our Roasters

2019

From small beginnings, we set up as a Community Interest Company. After moving our roasting operation around several church-based locations in Derby as we grew, we found our permanent home at Derby City Mission.

2021

We opened a small café at the Shot Tower in Derby City Centre, in partnership with Derby City Council and Community Action.

2022

With the help of some really amazing grants, we installed our fantastic new gas roaster and set up our office and packing area at Derby City Mission. We also ran a Winter Warm Hub on Saturday afternoons at the café and then at Ozzy Road Church, in partnership with Community Action.

2023

Sadly the cafe has to close, but the charity continue to supply cafe and churches in and around the city.

2025

The team at LRR (formerly Sacred Bean Coffee) start talking with the team at Jericho House (now called the Living Recovery Foundation), and form an exciting new partnership, focusing LRR’s mission on helping those on the journey of recovering from addiction. Sacred Bean Coffee rebrands to Living Recovery Roasters to mark this milestone. As part of this, the team train four new roasters from the Living Recovery Foundation. We are very grateful to Foundation Derbyshire for their continued and generous support. A bit shout out to Derby based alt design studio who have done the rebrand for us, free of charge – you are all wonderful talented people!

Create the right culture and it will flourish
